Poliform is one of the companies that best represent the “Brianza system”: the area north of Milan where furniture has been made for generations and where small family workshops have become industries known all over the world. Its strength lies in systems: wardrobes, bookcases, wall units and kitchens that are put together to measure for each home.

From workshop to industry

Its origins go back to 1942, when the Spinelli and Anzani families opened a small craft workshop in Inverigo, in Brianza. In 1970 three cousins, Alberto Spinelli, Aldo Spinelli and Giovanni Anzani, turned it into a modern industry and gave it a new name, Poliform, chosen to suggest flexibility, simplicity and openness to the future.

Modular systems and wardrobes

From the late 1980s modularity became the heart of Poliform's products: elements that can be combined in many ways to create bookcases, wardrobes and storage units suited to any space. In the 1990s the brand entered European markets and established itself as one of the leading names in wardrobes.

From kitchen to sofa

To bring its style into every room of the home, in 1996 Poliform acquired the historic kitchen brand Varenna. In 2001 Poliform Contract was launched for large custom projects for residences, shops and hotels, and since 2010 the company has also made sofas, armchairs and other upholstered furniture, with designers such as Jean-Marie Massaud and Emmanuel Gallina.

Poliform today

In 2018 ADI awarded Poliform's founders a lifetime Compasso d'Oro. In 2020 the company celebrated its fiftieth anniversary by asking the photographer Paolo Roversi to tell its story. Today Poliform is present on every continent, but it still makes almost everything in Brianza, with mostly Lombard suppliers, in its factories in Inverigo and the surrounding towns.
